YOUTH GROUP

This is the Youth Groups first entry in the news letter and we hope to make it a regular one.

First I would like to express our thanks for the support that you have all given us, especially for voting to share some of the scrip funds with us. Part of these funds will be used to fund our November event which is a concert by the group Captive Free, to take place here at the Church on Saturday Nov.15  at 7:00PM. They will also provide our Sunday service at 9:00AM the following morning.

There are six people in this group that we need to provide accommodations for. The requirements are the night of Nov.15,dinner that evening and breakfast and a bag lunch on Nov.16. I will be accepting two of these fine young people into my home leaving four more to be housed and fed. If you are able to take in a member of this mission group, please contact me at your earliest convenience at 781-924-1765.

We intend to invite the youth of other area Lutheran churches as well as others to attend the Saturday concert and hope to see some of you there too. We hope this event my encourage more young people to attend our church and join us on a regular basis.

Also this month, we need to register our youth that are able and encouraged to attend this years Youth Quake. This was voted the favorite event by them last year. This year both Youth Quake (for 6th to 9th graders) and Zone (for 9th through 12th graders) will be held at the same place and time. In order to obtain a discount and insure space availability, registration must be completed no later than Oct. 22, 2008. The actual event will take place in early 2009(1/30 - 2/1/09). Please see Cheryl Koertje who is running this event or myself to get more information.

We hope to publish this years activity schedule in the next news letter. We also wish you would encourage any of your children aged twelve and above to give the youth group a try.

Our October event will be to provide assistance at the upcoming Church Auction.
